Ebony Hates Chris

A really black creme from Wet'n'Wild that is perfect for layering opalescent polishes on!

Before I've told you that the brushes in these bottles are kind of unpredictable, some are wonky and some are just ok. This one is ok, it is round and on the larger side, but it works. The polish is somewhat sheer, but it compensates with evening out if you let it dry completely between coats.

As dark as it can be!

Hope you enjoyed!

Zinfandel

Dark as the darkest of blood!

Let me present Zinfandel (642) from Isadora. It came in the autumn/winter collection of 2011. This is a warm dark blood red polish that took me by surprise. I imagined it to be hard to paint and way to dark for me, but not. It was really easy to paint with and it looked awesome!

Hope you enjoyed!

Antique Rose

A classic red!

Old school red that I was surprisingly happy about! Really love the dusty look of this one and it was easy to work with. Covers in to easy coats! It's called Antique Rose and carries the number 50.

Don't really have much more to say....

Hope you enjoyed!

January Haul

Since I'm not buying that much polish anymore I decided to put them all together at the end of the month! Sooo, here goes.... At the beginning of the month I was looking through the bargain-boxes in the stores and found these two goodies. A bright, almost neon, pink and a shimmering purple!

The same day I also found the striper polishes from Depend in new colors. I grabbed the pink and blue one!

Now at the end of the month Depend came out with their Spring Collection and I just had to have it!

Whole collection
293, 294, 295, 296 (all matte)
292, 299, 300 (cremes) and 304 (matte top coat)
298, 301, 302, 303 (all matte as well)
These purchases did have a bad effect on quantity of untried polishes.... This is the amount of polishes (plus some) that are untried.....

I'm pleased that I decided to do the 52 week challenge and choose the colors from this fan.... hopefully I can decrease the amount of polishes on here! Tell me if you are interested in seeing swatches of any of these and I'll see what I can do.

Hope you enjoyed!

Jaded

This color really look like jade. It is also from the Isadora autumn/Winter collection and has the name Jaded and the number 704. The formula of this one was a bit different than the others.... the other were opaque enough in one coat, but this one needed two to get full coverage.
I know that the photo is a bit blurry, but it is the best one I got... the color is correct! The sun hid behind all the clouds and I only got shade.....

Hope you enjoyed!

In the army

We continue with the green polishes from the Isadora Autumn/Winter Collection 2010. This one is called In the Army (706).  It is lighter than hunter green and I it really has the color of the military clothes my brother wore when he did his military service.....

I like this color, it suttle, but yet i pops out in a way....well, not lika neon yellow or pink, but in it's own way! This is only one coat and no top coat... a top coat would be needed and the second coat is optional. It is opaque anyway, just remember to paint your free edge first!

Hope you enjoyed!

Lumene 13 - Get Color

I really had an urge for yellow... so as I went into town last Saturday I came home with 2!

As you could see on my last color wheel it was Mavala "Acid Yellow" och Lumene "Get Color". Today I'm showing you Get color, because it was the closest to what I really wanted. I grabbed the other one first, but could not get my self to put i back..... I'm really addicted, right?

Sooo, the Get Color is a really bright yellow. My hubbie described it as "sulfur" and I really agree! I might transform this mani as we go on... but for now I really like it!! The collection came out summer of 2010, just before I got the hang of nail polish... so I'm kind of late. When I read up on the subject I can see that they promise a better brush with a better control....I think that's really the case! I had really good control and did NOT make one mistake!

The collections name is "Natural code". Check out the meaning HERE. As for the formula, it's OK. It's a créme finish and the color really pops out even without a white base. I had to make it 4 coats to get it opaque enough, so it's a bit sheer. On the really positive side it dried semi fast... after 3 coats it was touchable after just a few minutes! On top is one coat of Mavadry (top coat). What else.... I can't think of anything?

Wow, what a long post....
Hope you enjoyed!

Flower Power

As we were having dinner with friend on the theme "Come dine with me" I had to somehow magically pull an outfit out of my existing wardrobe as I don't have enough money to go shopping for fun! It resulted in a brown and gold dress that I haven't worn for a loooong time and.... as a polish-junkie I had to have nails to match....

This is what I came up with:

I've used Depend 208 as a background. It's a really nice dark brown colour from the Fall/Winter collection 2010. On top I did Konad with imageplate m64 (the flower pattern) and Depend 224 from their latest Spring Collection and then I added brown/gold rhinestones in the middle of whatever flower I could.... I just put the pattern randomly and so was the rhinestones!

The necklaces in the first picture was also a part of my outfit! And... if you're interested, the food and the company was great!

Hope you enjoyed!

Claudia Hot Lava

Here comes the second one of my Claudia Polishes. This one is called "Hot Lava" and has the number 166.

I got a request to do a swatch of this one from Olivia after I posted the Monday nail wheel. As I saw it I was actually wearing the polish and here it comes!!

The formula was really good and it was really easy to paint with. The finish is a smooth créme that floats out and does not leave any brushmarks or streaks. It has just a normal brush and this time I had god control over it. As you probably know by now I have a hard time wearing red, unless it's glitter! Well, I think I'm changing.... this has a tad bit of shimmer in it which of course helps but also gives it a great color. I think it gets to stay on for a few days! The pictures are take in daylight on a cloudy day and would not show off the shimmer as much as I wanted it to!

Hope you enjoyed!

Kubiss 59

This is a brand that I had not heard of until I got it in my hand.... My boyfriend got it from Tradera with some other polishes and it took me some time to figure out where you can by them.

I found out that you probably can buy these att Gekås in Ullared and at Dollarstore in Sweden. It originates from London (click HERE to go to Kubiss website).

As for the polish itself, as I checked the Kubiss website for the colors I found out that this color, shade no. 59 is Grey.... nothing else! When I check it out in the bottle and on the swatch I did, it is more to black and I think it has a hint of red. It also has a slight shimmer in it. I like it...

Application was a bit hard and therefore you can see that I was not completely able to avoid my cuticles and did not have time to clean it up. The brush is small, too small for my liking, and it makes the application a bit harder. I do not think I can give a proper comment on the formula yet, just because I didn't buy this in the store and don't know if it had been opened and/or used before I got it but I found it a bit thick. This is three coats just to get it even and opaque.

Wow, what if I could get this much information into every post! Hope you enjoyed....

Depend 104

I could not help myself when I saw a Dependrack with take 3, pay for 2 a while back. So, this polish had to come home with me....

Its a black creme with shimmers in silver, turquoise and pink. Two coats is necessary but then it is opaque enough. It's just like any other Depend polishes and dries medium fast and applies OK. I fell for this one because it's not just black, it has some life in it!
Daylight
In the sun
It was hard to get the shimmer on camera and I didn't have the time to make a film on it so, this is it!

Hope you enjoy!

Depend 224

Finally I've gotten around to this one!

It´s a copper/brons-colour with a hint of gold I think and has a creme finish with the brushstrokes of a frost. It only needs one coat, but as usual I put 2 on just to cover my free edge.

I really dosn't have that much to say about this one, more than that I don't think it's the right colour for me!

Depend 229

I figured since the spring is coming and the suns out more often I wanted to show you a full swatch of Depend 229 from their spring collection. It's a reddish brown créme with shimmer in it. It was opaque in one coat, but to cover the free edge and make to make it look nice I did a second coat.

And yeah, I finally installed a US spellchecker so you guys don't have to see as many misspellings!

Depend 42

This is a champagne colour in their year-round collection and it got to come home with me because I needed something new to wear at work and the store had take 3 pay for 2.... so.... here it is.... (Parden my cuticles, I had no time to mosturize before taking the picture...the sun was going away!)

One coat
Two coats
The first picture is taken after wearing it one day wit honly one coat. As you can see it leaves a VNL and is really sheer. I didn't have time for more than one coat when I painted them and left it like that.....The day after I painted another coat of polish to see if it was able to cover the VNL, but it didn't.....Not quite happy with that, but it's clearly qualified for work purposes!

The finish is a créme, although as many of the Depend polishes tend to it has visible brushstrokes. This time I skipped the topcoat just because mine causes airbubbles.....and I think this one is as good without.

Depend 220

I tried really har to capture this gorgeous pink colour, but i was really hard. I will now show you a mobilphone-photo to get the most accurate colour, but it's not really completely correct. My camera washed all colour out of it so.... I still haven't gotten my normal computer back together so a colourcorrected one is not possible and I will try to update this.

The polish is a créme with shimmer in it. It's a onecoater, but this is 2 coats just to get the free edge.
