The BIG move...

This is the last day on this blog platform.

I've been working on this move since august, with exporting, importing and design. It's not an easy job! I even warned you about this in mid august...

You can as from tomorrow find me at The Polish Nerd where I've combined this polish blog with my personal one just to keep it simple! This blog will be here for another month so that everybody has a chance to find me OK.

Packing polish?

As you know, I got the best Christmas gift... a new job!

But, unfortunately I need to move away for these five months that I have the position. I've already arrange with a furnished apartment but now I also have to pack some of my personal stuff...

The first thing that causes me problems is my polish collection. What to bring and what to leave at home? I will be able to get what I miss at the weekends so for now I guess my choice is to pack all my untrieds and all my swatch sticks. This means I will be able to continue making posts for the blog and to plan nailart. Bases and top coats of various fashions are also included, after all the are essential!

Now I'm thinking about if I need to pack a regular black and white and if there is anything else related to polish I need? I'll let it be for now, but if you have any suggestion for a must have you're welcome to tell me in the comments!

New job!

Finally my efforts are taking me where I want to go!

I'll be working with the Swedish IRS in a town not long from here for five months.

I did make some changes so that my application letter is professional enough for this kind of position and it had an effect.

I also feel that it's right for me at this time in my life. I've managed to get some real life work experience that has forced me to grow in myself and that has given me a good look in to the lives of real people!

I've been wanting to have this opportunity since I've graduated from collage, but not until now I've managed to feel strong and confident enough to actually apply for the job!

So... this week I've manage to, as we say in Sweden, "klippt mig och skaffat mig ett jobb"! (cut my hair and got a job) and I'm really happy!

Also, the big moves is coming up soon.... It's all prepared for and I sincerely hope that if will not affect you in any way!

By the way... I'm going to do another "no suger challange" again for January... anyone care to join me? This means for me to skip all kinds of candy and alcohol. I will also try my best to eat LCHF, but I will probably modify that.

Do you donate?

Today I read my work email and one of my co-workers had sent a really sad e-mail.

It was about a mom with two kids that has fled from a country far far away due to political issues and ended up here in Sweden. The immigration authorities have given them a place to stay but almost nothing else and my co-worker met this mom and really wanted to help!

This made me think! The most of us have things in abundance that we have tucked away in storage and cellars, so do I.... I managed to put together a box of pans, pots, utensils and much more and I really hope they get to god use!

It also made me think that we think to much about ourselves, I'm no different. But in most cases we do manage and there are a lot of people that can't even afford food for the day or to buy much needed clothes!

I need to get better at giving. I feel that if I can give something to someone now, I will be able to get something from someone later in life if I need it. So please, think about those who are less fortunate than youself!

For those of you here in Sweden, there are a couple of groups on Facebook that you can like that help people who are having a rough time, for example Matkassen and Mathjälpen.

Please make some else happy with things you can spare!

I made it!!

Well, I'm kind of taking the win for granted, BUT it's only today left...

As I said before, I've survived Cinnamon Bun Day and I've made cookies and cake for my mum's birthday without tasting or eating any of it!

Now I'm really looking forward going to dinner at my bff Linda's house this weekend. She's planned a Halloween meal for us and I'm excited! She always makes the best food and has the nicest decorations! I'm treating myself to a glass of wine and dessert and then I'm going to be back on track.

A couple of weeks ago I went down to the basement storage and pulled out my boxes of old, too small clothes. I was actually able to takes some of with my up again. I also took two pairs of Jeans with me. One pair is still too small, but with just a couple of inches I will soon be able to wear them! The goal is to be able to wear them on our concert trip to Gothenburg in mid November. I hope I make it!

Weekend!

Yes, finally Friday afternoon!

Even though I seldom get called off to work nowadays, I still like Friday afternoons. Then you know you don't have to set the alarm and be ready to storm off....

This week has been particularly slow with work and I really hope i lightens up for me. On the other hand I got to do some other stuff. I went twice to Dollarstore, a nice low price store, in a town nearby.

I also got to sleep in and work out!

The weekend will be devoted to genealogy and cake-baking!

Happy Birthday Blog!

Today is three years ago that I decided that I would show my nails, polish and nail art on the Internet.

It was a huge step and I was worried that no one would want to read and look at it. In the statistics of my blog I could see the number of reader steady increasing and I really need to that you all who reads all my jibberish!

It's amazing that it has already been three years. I'm amazed at myself for keeping it alive for such a long time and now I only want to keep going.

Cravings?

Oh, yes!

Every single day.....

As I've put a end date to this "no-sugar" thing, I'm starting to crave it... just simple things like a piece of chocolate or some icecream. I'm still going strong and I know that I will succed!

The most hard part is at work, when the phone is not ringing and I have nothing to do... time slows down and my mind wonders off into food land...We also have a cafeteria at the lobby where you can get both food and candy. It's really easy to just go down the elevator and buy some on your break.

One of my solutions is to have something else to snack on when I have a break. For now it's a mini Babybel cheese and it's enough to keep me from eating something else. I've already managed to survive Cinnamon Bun Day at the start of this month. Our lunchroom smelled like cinnamon buns all day!

My biggest craving is candy, what's yours?

Shaytober!

Hi, it's me again!

This month is going to be a bit special.... I don't know how many of you that struggle with your weight and your physical appearance., but I sure do! This month I will be trying to stay off any unnecessary sugar, like candy, ice cream and alcohol. So far so good...

My goal in this is to keep up the level of exercise I'm on, maybe increase it a tiny bit. I also want to loose some weight, how much is yet to see....For now being able to put on some old, smaller sized, clothes for our trip to Gothenburg later this year is enough weight lost. I've started out strong, and it looks like day three also will be victorious!

Changing address

I've been hearing all these things about Google changing things up, but I haven't been bothered and I can't seem to see anything....

However, I am changing my blog address. For those of you who want to follow me, please log in to Bloglovin (hope you get it in your language) and subscribe there! It's really easy and I hope you will continue following me. There will also be a possibility to follow me via e-mail.

You might already have been experiencing changes around here. I'm looking through my posts to straighten things up. No posts have been deleted and they are all coming with me, but I need to get some proper structure before the move!

From now until December 31st the address will be the same. From that day I will stop bloging on blogger. I really need a change and the new address will be thepolishnerd.readmyblog.org. I want to give you a head start to get used to all this!

New toys!!

I know most of you think that you should have natural nails as much as you can. This is also what I think, but I have been really curious about gel nails for a really long time and not for the opportunity to elongate my nails but for the chance to make them stronger.

As my mother-in-law met a really nice lady when they were on vacation I had the opportunity to get a small discount for a start package... I came last Thursday and here's what I got....

Primer, Clear and White gel, top coat, cleanser, and cuticle oil

As I've never tried this before, not even had my nails done, it took me a while to get the hang of it... the first nail I did you can see where the tip starts and it's rather bumpy, but what the heck! I hope I can get time to practice some more to get the nails smooth and good looking!

Break

I'm taking a break from all of this...

I don't know for how long, but right now I only feel pressure thinking about the blog and I need to find the happiness in painting my nails again! They are mostly bare right now and I can't seem to find the time to paint them in between work, cooking and bed....

From time to time I will post photos here, but not as often as I've done in the past. I'll try to keep the pages updated monthly and take photos when I do paint my nails!

After that's said I want to cheer you up with the manicure I'm wearing right now...

I put Lilac Bikini as a base, taped off half and put on Pure Purple, then I took my striping brush and made the middle stripe in Violet Vain... everything from Isadora.

Computer invasion...

Just a quick post today!

I caught some kind of bug on my computer and it now has to be totally reinstalled. I spent yesterday evening after work backing up everything and tonight I hope I'll be up and running again with a healthy computer!

Well, the poll is closed and not many of you answered it.....but it is quite obvious that more nailart and Konad is wanted so here's what I'm gonna do!

You guys have to stand some swatching posts... I'm want to have this blog as a fun way for my family and friends to choose polish/nailart when they ask me to paint their nails.

But... I will try to make more nailart, try new methods of painting and show you some fun things. Somethimes I would like some idéas from you to... through comments or e-mails. The 2012 Nail Art Challenge is a way for me to be ably to try some new methods also, but I would need some more idéas inbetween!!

Nubbins

Since two of my nails broke I've taken some time choosing whether or not to cut them all down and start again.... I did it... and I miss them!! But now my nails at least look good again!

This is the length I'm starting off with right now... so it'll be nail art for short nail for a bit!

STEALING!?!?

I know many of you already have discussed this issue, and now the turn has come to me!

I was just out looking around our Swedish auction-site Tradera. I was looking to see if I could score any HTF Depend or Isadora polishes and found myself checking out some new auction for the Depend Magnetic Polishes. As I was looking through the photos of that particular auction, I twitched and had to look again!! Was...that...my...photo?? And yes, it was!

There it is, in numerous ads and from the same seller.... I watermark all my photo, thank G, so it wasn't that hard to identify them. I also checked some of the other auctions this person has to offer and from what I can see they have manicure photos that looks like they come from different blog-pages...

I'm putting this out there for all of you that have your own blogs so that you can check it out and make sure your photos are not used improperly!!

I just flipped through my album and this is what came out. No particular order to them and I like the all! As I was going through the photos I realized that I've gone through a lot of polishes and looks this past year and I hope to do the same this year. Hopefully I can get the time to sit down and fully update the blog, kind of like a spring cleaning..... The past year has brought many new fun things to try out and many new colors to try and I hope that the coming year has just as much to offer!
